Three Book Giveaway of the Month: Heaven for Kids
The Heaven for Kids book giveaway is now closed. Please check back on April 7 for the next giveaway.
From Randy: Stephanie Hallman’s stepping in again with a new book giveaway. I loved reading all your comments last time. Glad we’re giving you the audio option this time. Personally, I love listening to books on my CD player. And nice to have them on my IPod when I’m flying somewhere. Kids are always listening to stuff, and it was fun imagining a group of them in front of me as I read the book in the recording studio.
It was a blast writing and recording Heaven for Kids. I hope you enjoy reading or listening. One of the things I loved doing was including a bunch of stuff from The Chronicles of Narnia, more than was in the big Heaven book. And by the way, if my big Heaven book seems too heavy for you, or if 50 Days of Heaven is too devotional, consider this: there’s a church in Florida in which the men’s ministry read and studied Heaven for Kids!
After Stephanie’s explanation, I’m going to finish off with a story about the book we’re giving away. Thanks, Steph!
From Stephanie: We had so much fun with last month’s Safely Home giveaway that we’re back with round 2! This month’s winners can choose between a signed copy of Randy’s children’s book Heaven for Kids or a signed copy of the Heaven for Kids audio book (perfect for those family road trips!)
In a language kids can understand, Randy Alcorn explores Biblical answers to the questions kids often have about heaven. As in the adult title, Heaven, he addresses the difference between the present Heaven, where we go when we die, and the New Earth, where we will live forever with Jesus after he returns. Intended for kids age 8-12, Heaven for Kids is sure to be an excellent resource for families, especially those in which the parents have read the adult title and wish to pass on that same level of understanding to their children. The book features ten chapters of questions, and answers based on scripture and written in a style relevant to today's kids. The book also has a summary of the Gospel for those who want to be sure they are going to Heaven someday. Randy encourages kids to live "in Light of Heaven."
Kids have always asked . . .
Do we become angels in heaven?
Will my dog be there?
What will we eat?
Will I have to play a harp?
Will we play ball?
. . . and adults have always wanted to give better answers.
Here's good news!
The deadline to enter is Friday, March 28, and 3 winners will be randomly drawn and announced on Monday, March 31. Entering for your chance to win is as simple as leaving a comment on this post. But we’ve had trouble locating a couple of last month’s winners, so please include your contact information (a blog, or an e-mail address). If you would prefer not to post your e-mail address, please check back on March 31 to find out if you are a winner. (Need assistance with posting a comment? Just e-mail me at stephanie@epm.org)
And for the month of March, Heaven for Kids is on sale at the Eternal Perspective Ministries website for $8.39, a 40% discount. Safely Home, last month’s giveaway, is also on sale during March for $7.00 (a 50% discount off the retail price).
Check out the first chapter of the book, and see the cute kid pictures, or listen to some Mp3 samples from the audiobook version: How can we know that we are going to Heaven? or Will we play?
Thanks for entering. Both Randy and I truly enjoy reading each one of your comments!

A story from Randy about Heaven for Kids:
The giveaway of this book reminds me of something. Let me set it up.
I give away lots of books to people I come across, believing God gives me divine appointments every day. I often used to wish I had just the right book to give to kids. Since Heaven for Kids came out two years ago, I’ve written Wait Until Then and Tell Me about Heaven. Atthough I could give teenagers The Ishbane Conspiracy, written with my daughters, and many of my other books too, until Heaven for Kids I didn’t have anything to give pre-teens.
The day the first shipment of Heaven for Kids was delivered, Nanci and I drove to someone’s house that we’d never been to before or since. When we pulled up, outside the house next door a boy about ten years old was sitting on the curb. His head hung, and he looked miserable. I walked over to him and said, “Nice day, huh?”
“Yeah,” he said, “but I can’t ride my bike. Tire’s flat.”
“Bummer,” I said. “Do you like to read?”
“Yeah,” he said, still looking like his dog had died. I handed him Heaven for Kids. He looked at the boy on the cover, on the tire swing, smiled and said “Cool! You’re really giving me this?”
“Sure,” I said.
“Wow. Thanks!” He opened it and started reading.
I entered the house, then nearly an hour later glanced out the front window. There was the boy, still sitting on the curb, and still reading Heaven for Kids.
That was God’s gift to me, seeing in that boy’s hands the first book I’d ever written that I knew a ten-year-old would understand and enjoy. And it had special meaning because I vividly remember when I was his age, how I loved to read, and had never heard the gospel then, and wouldn’t for another five years. (If I’d read a book then in which someone cited portions of The Chronicles of Narnia, I’d have checked them out of the library in a heartbeat.)
Thank you, Lord, for your kindness. And though I may never see that boy again in this life, I pray I’ll see him in Your presence. And if I do, I know he’ll never look miserable again—and maybe we’ll spend a day together on the New Earth, riding bikes and talking about books and giving all praise and glory to You!

THANKS SO MUCH-- my kiddos would LOVE this.
My husband and I are currently living in Grenada W.I. as missionaries. This is a small island and buying new books are expensive or not available. My brother sent me "Deception" and we LOVED it. Could not let it down. I enjoy reading your blog.

Count me in! I've always seen or heard of Randy's books but never purchased one. I would love to have these for my up-and-coming pre-reading Vikings!
Randy and Stephanie, thank you for making these giveaways available. Though I wasn't a "winner" last time, I sense that God's hand is all over this - especially after reading the story at the end of this post and how Randy gave the book to the little boy sitting on the curb - so I know that these books are going to those places where the Lord wants to use them.
My youngest child will be 17 years old this month, but I have entered the most wonderful season of grandmothering. Not thinking about the fact that I would indeed be a grandmother one day, I have given away many of our children's books over the years and am little-by-little restocking the shelf of children's books in our home library. I would love to have Heaven for Kids as one of those books that my grandchildren could say that they read at "mimi's" house.
God bless!
dyvLooks wonderful, thanks for the opportunity!

I am about to adopt a child. As he grows up, I hope that he will learn from the Word such truths as Mr. Alcorn teaches in his Heaven books. Maybe a free book would help!
I would love to win! jennkaybarber@hotmail.com
I would like to be in the drawing for the book giveaway "Heaven for Kids". I have a four year old that just recently lost his fish (a big deal to a four year old) and I have been trying to talk to him about heaven, this book would be a God send. Thanks! Weiman Family @ Frogkb@hotmail.com
I, too, am a great fan of books and of sharing the best of the best with the youngsters I live and interact with regularly. I discovered your book on Heaven for grownups only recently and am enjoying my first read through thoroughly! I have been reading the book in the car to my family, but at great risk to my...how shall I put it...equilibrium? For some silly reason, it hadn't occurred to me to pick up a copy on CD to enjoy in the car. Thank you for planting that seed this morning.
BTW, I'm going to give a copy of Heaven for Kids to my niece and nephew for Easter. What a lovely way to celebrate our Greatest Gift!
Thanks. This looks great for the kids. I enjoyed listening (CDs) to some of the Heaven book.
How exciting - some wonderful kids from my church group would be the perfect recipients! Love to be entered into the drawing but also want to affirm - Randy I DO buy your books too - you bless us all with your writing. Thank you.
Randy -
What a gift to be able to see people enjoying what you write.
I have two girls - ages 11 and 8 1/2. I have your "Heaven" book but would love the audio kids version for my girls. We are taking a drive across the US this summer and it would be perfect to bring with us.
Count me in for the giveaway...thanks!
You can enter my name in the giveaway. I would love the children's book about heaven. I should ask my husband what he's been asked as a second grade teacher at a Christian School. At home it's mostly been questions about pets that have died. Thank you for your faithful ministry, Randy.

My three kids enjoy your Picture books with Ron Dicianni... In fact we have one of his paintings and when they see it they always say "That's from that book..."..

I would love this - I requested my library order this book, but they didn't order it, but they have ordered several of your other books for me. They ordered Wait Until Then and my kids have checked it out from the library several times.
My son (5) has been interested in things of eternity since he was old enough to talk possibly because we have lost several close friends in the last few years, but I would love to be able to share this with my kids.
I see my hubby has beaten me to the sign up for the giveaway. Can I be in it too? I'm trying to stay current on all your writing. I borrowed this one from the library for a time. Our kids are just at the age for this one. We need to own it....and I have friends who could benefit from it....we may need to buy more with your sale to pass it on!

My first Alcorn book was Safely Home and needless to say, I became a huge fan of Randy Alcorn! I proceeded to read the Deadline series, falling in love with all the characters! I'm currently reading Heaven (adult version) and would love to add Heaven for Kids to our collection (our 2 are a bit young yet, but would eventually make a great family devotional read!) so please count me in on the drawing.

My grandfather is in the last stages of pancreatic cancer and has just this week moved into a Hospice House. We've got 13month old and a second baby 14 weeks along.
By the way...should we be celebrating the date the child was actually conceived? Finney's heaven birthday party experience in "Deadline" leads me to this question.
So great to know you wrote a children't version... my husband's great grandmother read "Heaven" as she was dying in the summer of '05... what a blessing that book was then! Would love to have the Heaven for kids, not only for our own kiddos, but also to encourage other families with. I love to pass on great resources.
Thanks for the opportunity to possibly get books for my grans and greats--looks like a wonderful read!!

My brother gave me the audio set of Heaven a few years ago and I would love to have the childrens version for my son. And any future kids! =)
I thoroughly enjoy reading Randy's books for adults, and have most of his books. I am always blessed beyond measure when I read any of them. I especially enjoy the picture of how heaven might be in any of Randy's books...makes me want to go now! My husband and I are raising our 10 year old granddaughter and she is growing in her walk with the Lord. She also enjoys reading and I know would love this book.

Randy/Stephanie,
After being so blessed to be a winner last month, I don't want to enter in the giveaway this month, but I am going right over to the website to get this book.
Before the Lord blessed us with children, the most thought I gave to heaven is that it was better than the alternative. Two of the four children He has given us have been born with special needs and we are expecting #5 in a few weeks. Raising children who struggle so much in areas the rest of us find to be so natural we never give it a thought has really focused my attention and longing on heaven. My husband is currently reading the adult version to teach his Sunday school class and we've been able to bless others facing hospice situations using this book as well.
Thanks so much..finish strong!!

My mother passed away on Valentine's Day. She and my 10 year old daughter were very close. I gave "Heaven for Kids" to my daughter in the hopes that it would help her through the grieving process, knowing that her Nana was in a wonderful place with Jesus. If I were given a copy of this book, I would give it to the son of my friend who just suffered a brain stem stroke and may not be here much longer.
This would be perfect for my kids in a year or so when they are old enough to undrstand.

I have heard great things about your book Heaven from Pastor Ray Bentley at Maranatha Chapel in San Diego. This morning in service he relayed that he had spoken with you during our Men's Quarterly and that you mentioned you had a Heaven for Kids. My ears perked. I recently lost my younger brother (28). My chlldren are 5,7, and 9. Because of my faith and their faith - explaing my brothers death was easier but still very difficult. From what I can tell this book would be a wonderful resource for times like these and a tool for them to be able to use as they witness to friends. Thank you for your wonderful writings and I can't wait to get my hands on a copy of your adult version. Our church ran out of books with over 500 men attending the Men's Quarterly.

We had one parent tell us that the night her daughter came home from Sparks she told her Mommy that she wanted her name in the Lambs Book of Life and the Mom led her daughter in prayer and the little girl accepted Christ. My kids would be "in heaven" listening to the book! :-)
They already have a pretty good understanding of heaven because I read In Light of Eternity and Edge of Eternity before they were born. We talk quite often about their older sibling--a child we lost during pregnancy--being in heaven. When they went through a time of food allergies, they would dream about eating peanut butter in heaven. :-)
Also, we all were able to be with my grandmother as she was dying. They saw the mortician take her shell away and they said goodbye to her at an open viewing. They're not scared of death because, at ages 7 and 9, they are sure of eternity.

How can anyone write so well and so much? I know the answer. God's hand is upon the man and the ministry.
I enjoyed The Treasure Principle so much and began to read Randy's blogs. What a blessing they are! And now I'm reading through Heaven.
Thanks,
Herb
Randy, I am so thankful for your books and website. Safely Home is a top "fiction" book I recommend. I also want to get th Purity Principle! I hope hope my daughter will meditate on the goodness and lovingkindness of the gift of Heaven, as I have. Thank you!
Thank you so much, Randy and Stephanie, for your love and. devotion to being obedient to God's call on your life. For giving constantly to so many.
I have read almost all of your books, reading Heaven right now. My husband surprised me with it last week. We moved to Arizona to start a church in November last year. God has been so faithful and blessed us with a great opportunity to reach others for Christ. Your book Heaven is giving me even more of a desire to lead people to Christ. Focusing on the eternal and not the temporary.
Please keep us in your prayers as we continue to reach out to our community for Christ. Our church is called The Church at Sun Valley in Buckeye, AZ.
My son has been asking a lot about Heaven and where it is and how you get there, he is 5. I would love to give him this book to read (he learned to read last year) while I am reading the adult version so we could discuss together.
Again, thank you for your faithfulness to God. May God continue to bless you.
Many Blessing,
Mindy
Thanks for offering this again! lydiacollin.blogspot.com
Randy, I don't think I've had the chance to give away so many of your books in such a short time.
Safely Home to Rosemary Khamati working in southern Sudan through a team that is about to leave from Harvest.
Safely Home to a just settling single mom who isn't all clear about who Christ is but has been touched by people connected with Chuck Colson's Centurion program that Matt has been a part of.
Heaven for Kids for a family that is watching and waiting over their adopted daughter who has a rare heart disease. This one is hard for me but with careful words and much love through meals and visits I feel I need to give my copy I just ordered. Alisa in on life support and our church family is trying to carry them through this...whatever that means. May we do it with grace and truth.
Blessings,
Amy
Your travels and divine appointments are in my prayers....I've been overwhelmed with my own lately. How can God use our little efforts? I have nothing but weakness to give but His strength shines more...and He gets the glory.
Looks like a beautiful book.

Thanks for your encouragement to Christians everywhere.

Randy,
I would love to win your book "Heaven for Kids".
On Valentine's Day 2007 my husband of 25 years died very unexpectedly on his 50th birthday. As you can imagine I was and still am devastated.
His journey to our eternal home led me in search of a book so that I might study and become more knowledgeable about Heaven.
At a Mardel's in OK City a wonderful Christian employee led me to your book "Heaven". He prayed with me as he could tell how sorrowful and grief stricken I was. It was a wonderful experience.
I immediately began to read your book. What a comfort! I cannot tell you how it helped me.
Now, the reason I need your book is because I have two great neices who have struggled so much with the loss of their Great Grandma (my precious Mom passed away just 4 months before my husband) and their Uncle Bubba. I have tried to explain death to them but they are so young (4 and 7) to have experienced such great losses in such young lives.
I cannot tell you how I would love to sit on my couch and read "Heaven for Kids" to them.
Gratefully yours,
Karla Taylor
bubba.karla@sbcglobal.net
I have read three of your fictional books, but not before reading Heaven. I think the fictional books would not have meant so much to me if I had not read Heaven first. I encourage everyone to read Heaven first, then read your fiction books. I still have more to read. Can't put them down.
I've read a number of Randy's books and they're all so very real. I have the book Heaven. I was in a rehabiliation facility not so long ago for hip replacement and saw a lot of hopelessness of elderly people there who have no hope of ever getting out or even having visitors. At that time I prayed God would show me a way I could minister to these people after my own body was healed. I guess He felt that finally, at 70 years old, I was mature enough to do something like this, and lo and behold, here comess Randy Alcorn's book entitled Heaven, a missionary to Ecuador to help me, and two ladies of the church who volunteered right away! I have posed questions and answers that seniors and the elderly can relate to, and the book Heaven for Kids has much the same questions. I would love to have this book as a tool for these people, and also for my 11 grandchildren and 6 greats! Thanks, Randy, for being so filled with the Holy Spirit and giving hope to all of us of a better place to come.

I would love to give this gift to my 2 daughters.
Randy,
Your book about Heaven for adults was life changing. It made me long for Heaven and gave me a whole new way to communicate about what we have to look forward to with my children. We often talk about what it will be like. My 5 year old son loves zebras and he is hoping to have his own zebra in Heaven that he can ride and care for. My 7 year old daughter and I hope to swim with whales and dolphins. I am not sure we would have delighted in such thoughts and conversations without your book and the investigative research that you did. I already purchased your book for the little ones, but would enjoy winning this one for when they are a bit older. Thanks again Randy for your work for the Lord.
I'm in the middle of Heaven at the moment, and would like to say "thanks"!
Randy, I'm recently reading your book "heaven" in spanish "El Cielo", and I'm impressed of the rich of him.
I'm from colombia(south america) and I want to writte in spanish.
Bendiciones.
A friend of south america. Thanks.
I would love this. Our older kids have read the "Heaven" book. I think my just-turned-11-year-old could really benefit from this. We just buried her much-loved Nana last weekend, after a difficult, though brief, journey through pancreatic cancer.
God bless you in your ministry.

Thank you so much for all your books. My husband and I were introduced to your book The Treasure Principle through your broadcast on Focus on the Family several years ago, and consequently, ordered several copies of this program for family and friends. We have also really enjoyed reading your fiction. We love that you present the biblical concept of having an eternal perspective in all your writings. Keep being obedient! Lisa
